Ingredients
  • 2cups brown sugar
  • 3/4cups buttersoftened (1.5 sticks)
  • 3 eggslightly beaten
  • 1tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2cups flour
  • 2 1/4tsp baking powder
  • 1/2tsp salt
  • 2cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
  1. Pre-heat oven to 325F and grease and lightly flour a 9×13 inch pan.
  2. Cream butter and sugar in a stand mixer for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla; mix on low speed until combined.
  4. In a fine mesh sieve combine the flour, baking powder and salt. Sift into a large bowl.
  5. Add half of the flour mixture into the wet ingredients, mix on low. Once incorporated, add in the rest of the flour mixture and stir until combined.
  6. Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Press the dough into the prepared pan, spreading it to the edges.
  8. Bake for 25-35 minutes, or until lightly browned and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean (there should be a few crumbs still on the toothpick).
  9. Cool bars, then cut into squares and serve.
Recipe Notes

**Cardinal Rule**  Taking the bars out of the oven when there are still a few crumbs that stick to the toothpick helps ensure the bars won’t be dry once they have cooled.
